Notes

Flash is single-bank. AL-255/FM-1-RE states that the update protocol is not a demonstrated recovery mechanism and that ROM recovery, rollback and safe interrupted-write behaviour are not established, so there is no established recovery path if a write is interrupted. The aroum hub documents community recovery attempts (plain-USB mask-ROM mode with jl-uboot-tool, RP2040 USB_KEY dongles) that FM-1-RE has not verified; treat them as unconfirmed. Do not unplug during a write, and take a backup first where the installer offers one. Community advice is to return to stock V15 before flashing a different custom firmware rather than flashing one over another. Installs are done from browser WebMIDI installers (Chrome or Edge, USB) or a Python script; most return to V15 through M-VAVE's M-UPGRADE or the installer's own restore. Entries that patch the stock image (macropad patch, czietz patcher) are patch-your-own and need your own V15 (or V14) file; never share the patched result. Stock firmware is V15, released 2026-07-30. Hubs: aroum/fm1-custom-fw (curated directory plus REVERSE_ENGINEERING.md), fm1-editor.com/firmware, cicloid/awesome-fm-1, AL-255/FM-1-RE (WTFPL). The same JieLi AC791N (WL82) chip runs the SMK-37 Pro / Elite keyboards.
