SIDOU

Firmware for FM-1 (M-VAVE)

Commodore 64 SID instrument for the FM-1 with its own SID emulation, a live-play mode and MIDI input, and a step sequencer and .sid playback planned. Tested in an emulator only.

Brick risk. Flashing this carries a known, documented risk of damaging the device.

License notes
The project's own files are GPL-3.0-or-later. The firmware image links Felucca's GPL-3.0-only hardware layer and USB stack, so the image as a whole is GPL-3.0-only. It also carries data derived from reSID 0.16 and libresidfp (GPL-2.0-or-later), an MIT port of the Rings reverb, and three unmodified JieLi AC79 SDK files (Apache-2.0) in each package (LICENSING.md).

Description

Plays the SID's three voices with a 6581 or 8580 model, four presets, filter and pulse-width knobs and MIDI over TRS and USB, and adds three stereo effect slots after the chip. The SID core is the author's own C code and the repository carries reference tests against libresidfp. A tracker, a step sequencer, .sid playback and GoatTracker and SID-Wizard importers are described in the design document but are not in the current code. It is built on Felucca's hardware layer, USB stack and update loader and is checked in the fm1-emu emulator. The README says no FM-1 has run it yet and that it is not ready to be installed on hardware. It is a separate project from FM-1 SID.

Install notes

The author says to build it yourself (BUILDING.md) and not to flash it yet: it has not run on a real unit. The planned route is Felucca's installer with a sidou.fwsc package, after the hardware checklist in docs/hardware-test.md and with recovery tools and the official FM-1 firmware at hand.
