Nu:Tekt NTS-1 digital kit mkII

KorgSynths

Build-it-yourself programmable synth kit with a multitouch keyboard, sequencer and logue SDK 2 units

The NTS-1 digital kit mkII is the second version of Korg's Nu:Tekt synthesizer kit, assembled without soldering. It replaces the ribbon controller of the first model with an 18-key multitouch keyboard that can send polyphonic MIDI notes, and adds an 8-step sequencer, a MIDI output and USB-C power. It keeps the same case dimensions as the mkI, adds new oscillator types, modulation options and effects, and can use the audio input as a modulation source.

Notes

Custom firmware images are not known. The mkII runs user units built with logue SDK 2.0 (.nts1mkiiunit files), which use a different, dynamically linked format from the units for the original NTS-1, prologue and minilogue xd, so those must be rebuilt for this model. Per the SDK documentation there are 16 oscillator slots, 16 modulation effect slots, 8 delay slots and 8 reverb slots, and units need system firmware 1.0.0 or later. Units are loaded with Korg's KORG KONTROL Editor and appear at the end of each module's selection list; the device remembers a unit by its developer and unit ID, so units can be moved between slots. Units run alongside the stock firmware rather than replacing it.
