Nu:Tekt NTS-1 digital kit

KorgSynths

Build-it-yourself programmable synth kit with logue SDK oscillator and effect slots

The NTS-1 digital kit is a synthesizer kit from Korg's Nu:Tekt line that is assembled with the included tool and needs no soldering. It has one monophonic digital oscillator based on the Multi-Engine of the prologue and minilogue xd, a multimode filter, one envelope and three LFOs, and three stereo effect sections for modulation, delay and reverb. An arpeggiator and an audio input are built in, and it is powered over USB.

Notes

This entry covers the original NTS-1 digital kit; the mkII has its own entry. Custom firmware images are not known. What the community builds are user units made with the logue SDK: custom oscillators and modulation, delay and reverb effects (.ntkdigunit files, which are zip archives). Korg's Librarian page lists 16 oscillator slots, one of them holding the factory Waves oscillator. Units built with SDK 1.1-0 need system firmware 1.02 or later. They are loaded with Korg's NTS-1 Librarian application (drag the unit onto its list and send) or the logue-cli command line tool, and run alongside the stock firmware rather than replacing it. The NTS-1 is monophonic, so polyphonic units written for the prologue or minilogue xd may behave differently. Korg also maintains a repository of hardware customization files and Arduino custom panel code for this model.
