Versio

Noise EngineeringEurorack & modular

10 HP stereo effects and DSP platform with swappable firmwares

Versio is a 10 HP Eurorack effects and DSP module from Noise Engineering, built on an Electrosmith Daisy Seed (STM32H750). It has stereo audio inputs and outputs, seven knobs, two three-way switches, a button and gate input, and CV inputs for the knobs. Because the controls are assigned in software, printable or hot-swappable panel overlays label the same hardware differently for each effect.

Notes

Versio is one 10 HP hardware module. Every firmware in Noise Engineering's library runs on any Versio, and swapping is free: connect over USB in a WebUSB browser (Chrome, Edge or Opera) at the Firmware Swap page, noiseengineering.us/portal/firmware. Desmodus, Ampla, Electus, Imitor, Lacrima, Melotus, Polydactyl, Ruina and the rest are firmwares, not separate hardware, although several were originally sold as separately panelled modules under those names. Hot-swap overlays and printable panels show each firmware's controls. Noise Engineering supports third-party Versio firmware built with libDaisy (the FAQ points to examples in the libDaisy repository) or Max gen~ via Oopsy; the hot-swap feature only works with official firmware, so returning from a third-party image needs the button combo swap. Most community images install by selecting a custom file on the swap page; some (Cithara Versio) need the Daisy bootloader flow from flash.daisy.audio. The official library is closed source. The community index also lists closed binaries that are only linked from ModWiggler threads (Megatron, Campestria, Multi Versio, Reticulum, Praetereo, Repetit, Proteus); they are not catalogued here because those threads could not be checked. SUPA Versio (EMƎ) is another third-party firmware, covered in a Noise Engineering guest post, but its download links sit on the author's Linktree and were not verified. Third-party Versio firmware does not run on Alia or Legio, which are different hardware.
