Open-source standalone sound computer (legacy)

The aleph is a standalone digital sound computer designed by Ezra Buchla and Brian Crabtree and announced by monome in 2013. It has four audio and four CV inputs and outputs, optical encoders, assignable keys, an OLED display, USB host and device ports, an ii jack and an SD card slot. A 32-bit AVR32 microcontroller handles control and a 533 MHz Blackfin BF533 DSP handles audio. monome describes it as a precursor to norns.

Notes

Aleph is in monome's legacy docs section but its repository is still under development. Its firmware is an AVR32 application plus a Blackfin DSP module, loaded from the SD card by the bootloader, so new DSP modules and apps can be built from source instead of patching a closed OS.
