Each release is a complete firmware image packed as a .tup file for installing from the SD card the same way as Yamaha's updates, and every release includes the features of the earlier ones. The list covers extra layer types, per-layer reverb, chorus and echo effects, splits that change octave, velocity, length or pan across a layer, extra meta controllers and loop speeds, MIDI transport and pitch bend handling, an option to delay sound against MIDI notes, an encoder debounce and a menu emulation that help when the rotary dial is failing, and a grid mode for controlling external devices such as the monome norns. The author's site documents each feature and open bugs, and one contributor provides a screen-mirroring app. Files saved by earlier versions, including Yamaha's own, load correctly from release A040 on. The images are built by the author, not Yamaha's own download, and no source code is published.

Unzip the release, copy the .tup to the TENORI-ON folder on the SD card, power on holding OK and CANCEL, pick the file with the jog dial and confirm the update, which takes about 90 seconds. If the unit hangs at the title screen afterwards, run the test-mode factory reset (power on holding L1 and CLEAR, choose 047 Factory Set); this removes loaded samples. The author's liability waiver says the images work on the author's own unit and disclaims responsibility for damage to yours.
