The patched firmware uses both display lines for a segment screen that shows segment, swing, tempo, auto-correct and bar.beat position with the recording state. It also adds a one-bar count-in, a brief readout of which bank, pad and output a struck pad plays on, and undo and redo of the last recorded take. The mod starts through the SP-1200's boot path for EEPROM updates but loads only into memory, so the stored firmware is never rewritten and a normal power-on runs Rossum's firmware as before. The page checks that the file you drop is an unmodified 1.04, and the repository holds only the patch bytes, not any Rossum firmware. The project says it brings a subset of the features of SPf1200, a separate mod for the original E-mu SP-1200, and is not affiliated with Rossum.

Download Rossum's 1.04 zip from Rossum, drop it on the project page to build sp1200eefw.bin, and copy only that file to the top level of the SD card. Hold Sync while powering on, answer Yes at the update prompt (nothing is written to EEPROM) and press Enter at the card prompt. Do not share the built file, since it contains Rossum's firmware. If the ReprogramEEPROM question ever appears, press No, and do not use Special 28 while the mod runs. The mod is gone at power-off.
