AChChid for Monsoon

Firmware for Clouds (Mutable Instruments)

Firmware for the After Later Audio Monsoon, a Clouds clone, that turns it into a TB-303-style voice with the Braids macro oscillator as its sole sound source, run through an Open303 filter and envelope.

Description

Targets the Monsoon and compatible Clouds-architecture hardware using the stock Monsoon bootloader, not the original Mutable Instruments Clouds. The panel sliders map to cutoff, resonance, envelope modulation and decay, while the knobs select the Braids model, timbre, colour and accent depth; TRIG plays a note and FREEZE accents it. The project labels itself an MVP, with Braids not yet checked across every model and pitch range. Ports the AChChid voice from the author's ChooChooTracker project.

Install notes

Hold the panel Freeze button while powering on and release it when the Freeze LED pulses, then play achchid.wav at 48 kHz into the left input. The bootloader stays installed, so the stock Monsoon firmware can be restored with its normal update WAV.
