SY FM4
Firmware for Syntakt (Elektron)
Four-operator FM machine for the Syntakt that replaces SY TONE in place with a superset, adding eleven operator algorithms and a second parameter page. Targets OS 1.40A only.
Brick risk. Flashing this carries a known, documented risk of damaging the device.

Description
Algorithm 0 is the stock SY TONE, so existing projects keep their sound, and algorithms 1 to 11 are four-operator layouts (eight classic four-operator arrangements plus tree, diamond and ring). The second SYN page adds ratio, level and decay for operators 3 and 4, plus a detune control, and its values are saved with the sound and can be parameter-locked. The repository holds the engine source and two Python patchers that read your own official 1.40A file and check the checksum of every byte range they overwrite; it ships no Elektron firmware, and the author asks that built files not be shared. The author reports hardware tests of the update, all parameters and parameter locks on one unit; save and reload and CPU cost were checked in an emulator only. Ports to 1.41 and 1.42 are not done.
Install notes
Build with the elektron-firmware-tool, a ColdFire cross compiler, Python and make, giving your own official Syntakt OS 1.40A .syx as input. Flash the result through Elektron Transfer like an official OS, and flash the stock file the same way to go back. If the unit fails to boot, the README describes holding FUNC at power-on to enter OS upgrade mode, which needs the stock OS sent over MIDI DIN, not USB.
