ThisFirmwareDoesNotExist (freakpatch)
Firmware for MicroFreak (Arturia)
Python patcher that applies community patches to your own copy of Arturia's official 5.0.0.2084 update file. The Release patch splits Decay and Release on separate controls, and a second patch adds MIDI CCs for the mod matrix.
Brick risk. Flashing this carries a known, documented risk of damaging the device.

Description
The repository holds the patch machine code with its assembly source, the hook addresses and the checksum of the one official file the tool accepts; it contains no Arturia code. freakpatch refuses any other input, checks that the output has the stock length and that only declared bytes changed, and writes a patched .mff next to the input. The default Release patch makes the Dec/Rel knob set Decay only and puts Release on Shift + Decay, with its own MIDI CC (72 by default) and storage in presets. The release-matrix build adds a CC for the 34 mod matrix amounts that have none on stock firmware, and some of those CCs may overlap controls the stock firmware reads, possibly the Vocoder bands, which is untested. Docs map the stock image to help others write patches. The author states the project was written with Claude Code.
Install notes
Needs Python 3.11 or newer and the official microfreak_Firmware_Update_5.0.0.2084.mff from Arturia or MIDI Control Center's own copy. Run freakpatch on it, then flash the patched file with MIDI Control Center. Do not share patched files. If the synth stays on the boot logo, hold Shift + Arp + Oct while powering on and flash the official file; flashing the official file always restores stock.
