CircuitPython-based MIDI foot controllers with colour displays
The MIDI Captain is a family of MIDI foot controllers from PaintAudio, sold in several sizes such as the Nano 4, Mini 6 and a 10-switch model. Each has RGB- lit footswitches and a small colour display, and the units appear to a computer as a USB drive for loading configuration files. They send MIDI over USB or DIN and are commonly used to control amp modelers and effects units.
The controllers present a USB drive (hold switch 1 while powering up), so firmware is installed by copying files. Both projects here are written in CircuitPython. PySwitch recommends saving the drive's original contents first, including the license folder, if you may want to restore the manufacturer firmware, and supports multi-boot alongside it.
