Ornament & Crime (o_C, uO_C, ORN8)

Ornament & Crime (open hardware)Eurorack & modular

Teensy-based quad CV / trigger module with OLED

Ornament & Crime (o_C) is an open-source Eurorack module with four 16-bit CV outputs, four CV inputs, digital inputs, an OLED display and two encoders. The original is a 14HP design by mxmxmx built around a Teensy 3.2 and a DAC8565, and a smaller 8HP version (uO_C) and a Teensy 4.1 based board (ORN8) followed. Its stock software was developed by Patrick Dowling, mxmxmx and Tim Churches, and it reuses some code from Mutable Instruments modules.

Notes

Open hardware, covering the original 14HP o_C by mxmxmx, the 8HP uO_C, the Teensy 4.1 based ORN8 board and commercial variants (for example Plum Audio 1U builds). Per ornament-and-cri.me/licensing, most firmware source files carry MIT headers but at least one file is GPLv3, so the firmware bundle and its binaries are treated as GPLv3. The Hemisphere line is a dual-applet framework layered on the stock o_C code; Benisphere forked Hemisphere and Phazerville forked Benisphere. Build guides and manuals are not under an open license.
