Yarns is a 12HP Eurorack MIDI-to-CV interface from Mutable Instruments, produced from 2014 to 2020. It converts MIDI into pitch, gate and modulation voltages for up to four voices or parts, in monophonic, polyphonic or multitimbral modes, and includes an arpeggiator, a sequencer per part and a Euclidean pattern generator. It runs on an STM32F103 at 72 MHz with a 16-bit DAC.
Mutable Instruments firmware is MIT-licensed (STM32 code) and the hardware is CC-BY-SA-3.0. Derivatives may not use the Mutable Instruments name. Presets saved under a custom firmware do not load on stock firmware and vice versa.
Yarns firmware with a cue sequencer, a looper-style sequencer with polyphonic recording, 27 oscillator shapes, ADSR envelopes, new paraphonic layouts and expanded MIDI CC support.
