Electribe 2 / 2 Sampler

KorgGrooveboxes

Pattern-based groovebox in synth and sampler variants

The Electribe 2 is a pattern-based groovebox made by Korg. The synth version appeared in 2014 and an Electribe 2 Sampler variant followed, both with 16 pads that double as step keys. The synth model combines analog-modeling and PCM oscillators and the sampler records and plays user samples, with insert effects per part and 24-voice maximum polyphony. Internally it pairs a TI Sitara CPU with a Blackfin DSP.

Notes

The stock updater writes straight to flash, so a bad write can leave the unit unable to boot. The Hacktribe wiki documents a Debrick procedure that needs a JTAG header or SPI flash access. Hacktribe patches the Electribe 2 Sampler 2.02 firmware and can also be applied to the synth model after editing the file header.
