Mirage

EnsoniqSamplers

1984 keyboard sampler

The Mirage is an eight-voice, 61-key sampling keyboard introduced in 1984 as Ensoniq's first product. It records 8-bit samples into 128 KB of memory and passes each voice through an analog resonant low-pass filter. Samples and the operating system load from a built-in 3.5-inch floppy drive, and it has MIDI. Keyboard and rack-module versions were sold until 1988.

Notes

MASOS_BE is reported to work on the DSK, DSK-8 and DSM-8 and to read existing MASOS v2 wavesamples. It boots from a Gotek floppy emulator image. The Boxed Ear page states the original boot ROM is hardware-protected, so nothing is changed permanently.
