Organelle (original)

Critter & GuitariDIY platforms

The original 2016 Organelle, a Linux Pure Data instrument that stopped at OS 4.0

The original Organelle is the first model of Critter & Guitari's music computer, an instrument with a wooden-key keyboard, knobs and an OLED screen that runs Pure Data patches on an embedded Linux system. New patches are loaded from a USB stick or the microSD card. Critter & Guitari now lists it in its Museum of Retired Instruments, and the later Organelle M, S and S2 have their own entry.

Notes

Organelle OS 5, the current release, does not support the original Organelle. The newest image for it is OG1-4.0 (OG1-3.1 before that), written to the microSD card with a tool such as balenaEtcher as described in section 7.1 of the user manual; flashing erases the card.
